P.F. Hoole & Company started in 1964.The founder of the firm, Mr. Peter Hoole, had been articled in London and was admitted as a Solicitor in March 1960. He had worked as an Assistant Solicitor for Slaughter and May, before becoming a Deputy Clerk to Thornbury Rural District Council. On leaving this position, he opened our first office in Patchway. The principal work was initially that of conveyancing.
Arising from the conveyancing clientele were a number of litigation matters, which resulted in Mr. William Nicks joining the Firm in November 1966 to have conduct of those matters. Mr. Nicks had previously been articled with F E Metcalfe and Company and had worked for them as an Assistant Solicitor up until the time he joined this firm. He was admitted in July 1965.
Due to the growth of the Litigation practice, an Assistant was taken on in 1977 and was replaced in November 1979 by Mr. Sheron Stevens who had been articled with Burroughs Day and Blackmore and was admitted in March 1979.
As a consequence of an increase in work further Assistants were taken on to help in matrimony.
In March 1995 the St Paul 's and Southmead Offices, formerly of the practice of Messrs. Robinsons, were incorporated by the firm.
For purely marketing reasons the Firm's name was changed to Hoole and Company.
On November 1 2002 the Legal Services Commission awarded us a contract in Immigration law.
In March 2007, the Firm reduced in size to two offices and now covers Conveyancing, Divorce and Matrimonial, Immigration, Civil Litigation; Welfare Benefits, Wills and Trustsand Probate; Court of Protection and Power of Attorney. Mr. William Nicks and Mr. Sheron Stevens remain as partners of the Firm.
